Ross Wright specialises in safe asbestos removal and disposal, based in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. Asbestos is a dangerous substance that must only be removed by professionals. In this blog we explain exactly what asbestos is and what it may cause if not treated in the correct way.
What is asbestos?
Asbestos is a naturally occurring fibre previously used in construction along with a wider range of industries until the 1990s. There are 3 main types of asbestos but the most common is white (chrysotile) asbestos. White (chrysotile) asbestos accounts for around 95% of the asbestos used in most countries. We specialise in the safe removal and disposal of bonded roof and wall cladding white asbestos on industrial buildings.
Harmful effects asbestos can cause
Asbestos is extremely harmful if not dealt with in the correct way. Mishandling asbestos can result in the handler inhaling tiny fibres which are very hazardous and can cause asbestosis. Asbestosis is a long-term inflammation and scarring of the lungs due to asbestos fibres. Asbestosis sufferers may experience symptoms such as shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing and a tight chest. Some complications of asbestosis may include lung cancer, mesothelioma and pulmonary heart disease.
