What is Single Ply Membrane?

Single Ply Membrane are sheets of synthetics and rubber that are used to create a layer of protection to a commercial property. There are two types of membrane… Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) and Ethylene Propylene Diene Terpolymer (EPDM). The rubber is chemically adhered to the insulation to create the extra layer.

For any directors, managers or property owners, it is a daunting task having to ensure that your facilities continue to run efficiently all throughout the year and there are no weaknesses within your workplace. In a commercial premises, whether it be office building in a busy town centre or industrial unit, the roofing system plays a key part on ensuring that you have a safe place for your employees.

Why use Single Ply Membrane?

Over the years there have been large number of studies and tests carried out which has allowed it to evolve and become much more of a reliable roofing membrane and solution that many will opt for. The membrane doesn’t include the insulation as it is only Single Ply. There are many other options you can choose from to insulate your roof, such as polyisocyanurate which is one of the most used installation types.

The installation of Single Ply Membrane is relatively straight forward and much simpler than other complex solutions that are available. Once the existing base is ready and prepared (this will be by cleaning or removing what’s already there) you can then begin to cover it with the new membrane.

Despite it being extremely lightweight and their being multiple layers, it will help to relieve any pressure and stress that is building up on the roof and the structure of your property.
