What Is Steel Fabrication?
Simply put, steel fabrication is the process of creating metal structures by bending, cutting, welding, and assembling metal together. The process involves a skilled technician, who assembles the metal components and then creates an item from them, with there being minimal room for error. Steel fabrication is used to create everything from vehicle parts, industrial parts and even household appliances.
What’s Involved In Steel Fabrication?
There are three main methods involved in steel fabrication. They are machining, cutting and welding.
Machining involves using a specialised piece of equipment to shave away bits of metal in order to create the desired shape. The tools usually involved in machining are lathes, drills and mills.
Cutting is a process used to cut bits of metal into smaller sized pieces. Metal cutting is often done using CNC lasers or water jets to cut to a high level of precision whilst having minimal distortion.
Welding is the fabrication process in which two or more parts are fused together via means of heat, pressure or both forming a join as the parts start to cool down.
