In a place of business, there are many aspects that need to be considered when thinking about health and safety. Whether it’s a large industrial environment, an office, or your home all properties can and should be fitted with modern safety solutions.
Safety in the workplace
One of the biggest hazards in a workplace environment would be a fire. Fires in an industrial environment can cause large scale harm to the building and your employees. Fortunately however, there are many ways to reduce the damage caused by fires and keep your employees safe.
In the event of a fire, you and your employees should evacuate to the nearest/safest fire exit available. It is your responsibility to regularly check and ensure that all fire exits are accessible and unlocked in the case of an emergency.
Fire exits which are located on elevated floors will need an exterior staircase for your employees to safely descend to the ground floor and out of danger. These staircases cannot be overlooked and must be fitted correctly to minimise any unnecessary risk. First of all, the staircase must be stable and securely attached to the building’s exterior. Secondly, it is highly recommended that your stairs are not a slip/trip hazard. We can install non-corrosive, anti-slip treads to give the stairs a rough texture which dramatically reduces the risk of slipping and falling, even in wet weather.
As well as the stairs themselves, hand railings are just as important. These railings will surround your stairs and can greatly reduce risk of injury. The railings can stop people from falling down the staircase, as well as be used to hold onto while traversing down the staircase which further reduces the risk of slipping.
These installations are one of our bespoke services. Contact our team and we can install a fire escape staircase to your specifications.
